MISSION DIMENSION
SCULPTURE STOP #2
Great job going the distance, Agent! You made it to your second sculpture and clue.
Welcome to Korean Cranes Rising by Jon Havener, an artist and professor at KU. This sculpture is part of KU’s Korean War Memorial. Memorials help us remember history and honor some kind of loss. The crane is a large bird with long legs and a long neck. It is an ancient symbol of peace. In one Korean legend, those who live an honorable life come back as a crane.
The bodies of these cranes are so twisted up, it seems like one body. Can you tell them apart? How many legs do you count? How many heads? Move all the way around so you don’t miss anything.
Let’s do a little more math:
LEGS + HEADS – 1 BODY = ?
Record your answer by this sculpture’s symbol, the origami crane.
Head to stop #3. Along the way, watch out for rusty fish on the sidewalk! Keep count, then multiply the total by 2:
TOTAL FISH x 2 = ?
Record it on your Agent Record.
